From The Chief

Our recent move is the result of a four-year effort to plan and search for a new location and a long strenuous construction project. We chose to purchase and remodel an existing two-story office building. This required the removal of one-half of the second floor to create the apparatus bay and extensive remodel of the balance of the existing building. This all was very successfully accomplished by the creative design work by OZ Architecture and the expert work of GH Phipps Construction Company. The result is a 20,000 square foot multi-agency/multi user facility with room for other agencies and plenty of community use space. Please stop by for a tour and call me at 303-530-9575 ext. 101 for additional information or details.

BRFD moved to new station 10-AUG-2011!
Boulder Rural Fire Protection District moved into our new Central Fire Station at 6230 Lookout Road on Wednesday, August 10, 2011!
The new facility is the result of a three-year search to find a suitable site to relocate from our 25-year-old Jay Road Station, which was a remodeled agricultural barn. After no success finding an acceptable site in the County to build, the District Board decided to purchase a vacant two story office building in Gunbarrel. We were able to remodel the building versus build new at a considerable savings to the their tax payers. The new station and its location will support faster response times and better customer service.
We had great attendance at our grand opening ceremony combined with our annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on September 24, 2011. Thanks for your support!

smoke and co detectors

Smoke alarms let us know that there may be a fire in our home and that we must get out quickly!
Boulder Rural Fire Department wants to remind everyone how important it is to have working smoke alarms on every level of your home. Remember when you change your clocks to change your smoke alarm batteries, every six months. Smoke alarms that have been pulled off the wall or have had batteries removed won't do you any good when you really need them!

Burn Permits
Boulder County has a new county ordinance that prohibits all ditch, field or slash burning on red flag days. The ordinance further requires that the Boulder Sherriff's Office is notified by calling (303) 441-4444. Please visit the Health Department site to apply for a burn permit and to check the air quality status. You may also call (303) 758-4848 to get air quality updates. Please note: The modified fire ban has been lifted for Boulder County, however, please continue to use extreme caution and common sense!

A Public Safety Message from the Boulder County Sheriff's Communications Center
Help Keep 911 Lines Open! Every day 75 to 100 calls to 911 are received by the Boulder County Sheriff's Communications Dispatch Center from accidentally activated cell phones. On your belt or in your purse, the keypad on your cell phone can be pressed and cause another unintended call to 911. Cell phones with a single key programmed to dial 911 can be unintentionally activated. Lock the keypad on your cell phone and prevent this disruption of the life saving 911 service. Help keep the 911 lines open for real emergencies!
