Volunteers
Boulder Rural has always been on the lookout for the highest quality responders we can attract, and we have had another very successful year! So far this year we have had 8 of our members realize their dreams of a career job in the fire service, and one of our career members has accepted a job on a larger department. We firmly believe in the fact that we develop some of the best responders in the Front Range! We do so through a highly competitive and selective process at the entry level. We attract many interested candidates from outside of our community due to our success in helping our members place in jobs.
We have enjoyed a highly successful program where there is no perceivable distinction between our Volunteer and Paid staff. Every member is held to the same minimum training standard, every member is held to the same performance factors on and off scene, and every member realizes the value of being a contributing part of the team.
We conduct our volunteer hiring processes twice annually; our goal is to maintain a roster of 30 active volunteers. Please download and fill out an application and check out our physical ability test (PAT) page on this site. We will hold all applications for 12 months and contact you for the hiring(s) that fall within that period. Some of our volunteers serve in positions above the firefighter/EMT level such as Engineer or Lieutenant. We offer a Pension or a Length of Service Awards Program as well as a Volunteer Incentive Plan to reward our volunteers for their service, either standard or beyond the minimum. We are truly a combination department with a strong team; won’t you join?
